I was clearing out my book shelves over last weekend when I came upon some old books from my childhood. Anyone remember series like Malory Towers and St. Clares? Girls’ boarding schools with good clean fun – at least that’s what it seems like when you are a teen. As you grow older you realise how sordid things can get in an all girl’s environment. That said, I was marvelling at the wardrobe they used to have to equip themselves with – uniforms, hats, equestrian clothing, lacrosse sticks… I always wondered what a lacrosse stick was or how it was played, never having seen it in action.
