Will they jump ship?

The BN looks like a sinking ship for now. It is full of leaks and the leaders are doing nothing to plug it and are in fact creating new ones. With Anwar now in Parliament, there is talk that enough BN MPs will jump ship to join the opposition to form the new government. I’m not sure if its going to happen but talk is rife that it will be MPs from Sabah and Sarawak. For all we know, there may have been secret meetings in reno hotels or any budget or five star hotels to discuss this jumping ship.

Yesterday there was an announcement by SEVERAL East Malaysian MPs that they pledge not to jump ship and were going to sign a pledge to that effect. Today, other Sabah MPs have rejected this pledge.

Honestly, I don’t know what’s happening with the politics of this country. Its all thrown to the wind.

Has someone in UMNO seen the light?

There has been talk recently about the MCA and Gerakan leaving the Barisan Nasional coalition. This has been prompted by numerous things not least the latest comment by an UMNO Youth Chief that the Chinese are squatters and temporary residents here in Malaysia. Very uncalled for remarks that despite numerous calls for an apology has not had any apology forthcoming. All this on the eve of Malaysia’s 51st year of independence. Isn’t it unsurprising that the lighting on the buildings have been dimmed for the celebrations? Even flags aren’t flying high and proud as it was a few years ago.

Finally, after all the silence, Muhyddin who previously withdrew his announcement that he was going for UMNO President in the upcoming polls has said that he is worried. He should be. Malaysia was built on a coalition government. No one party can stand on its own in this multi racial land.

I’m waiting to see what happens and what the other UMNO leaders say. Or whether they’ll say anything at all.

So you think you own me?

I am going on a holiday to Bangkok over the weekend and spilling over into the first two days of the week. Today, I received a call from a customer. They were angry or maybe rather upset that I was going away and not going to be around during those 2 days because there is a deadline we are expecting to meet. The thing is that I am awaiting documents to allow me to proceed and there is no guarantee that I can receive it on Monday or Tuesday. Yet, these customers are upset because I MAY not be around IF the documents come in.

Erm… hello? You do not own me! You have not even paid my fees much less give me Akoya pearls for my birthday. I do not believe I have to answer to you for my HOLIDAY! I am so angry now. This is so freaking ridiculous!!

ARGH!!!!

Can a matter in court be discussed outside of court?

I’m not familiar with court processes but I would have thought that matters that are already in court should not be discussed outside. My views are of course tainted by the tv shows I watch where they sequester juries so as not to prejudice their minds by what they read in the papers.

So I have been quite puzzled over this whole Saiful – Anwar affair… if I can call it that. We know that Anwar has been charged in Court for allegedly participating in anal sex. A few days ago we had Saiful, his accuser swearing on the Quran on tv and in the public, that it was done to him against his consent (though how that can be is beyond me).

Today, he was called to give a statment to Jawi the religious officers, allegedly about the same issue.

Can they do that? Discuss and give statements and “evidence” outside of the Court even before the case has begun?

I’m puzzled.
