They are now only 10G and this reduction was done without any warning what so ever! I was horrified I mean, would it have hurt to just inform us they were changing policies?!

I’m thinking of using Flickr now. They have a storage limit but at least they don’t have a bandwidth limit!

Lately, I’ve been thinking of taking it one step up and registering it on its own domain. However, I am loathe because I will revert to PR0 and it’ll take another PR shakeup before I get any PR back again. On the other hand, I might actually get a better PR next time round, no?

What is more noticable about WordPress 2.5.1 is the change in the whole interface. Previously it was stark but now its got lighter shades and looks somehow more professional. The old WordPress Admin interface made me feel like it was slightly amateurish. Now, I feel like a blogging pro! However, one thing I must say is that the write post area isn’t as user friendly.

I don’t know why they placed the categories right at the bottom of the post. This makes me forget to place the post into the proper category resulting in a lot of “uncategorised” posts. It might be easier for writers if the categories was left as it was. Given a choice, I’d grab a festool and chop away all the bits I don’t like. LIke the fact that sidebars for widgets are now only showed one at a time. I’m female! I can’t cope with remembering what goes where! Is this WordPress’s way of telling us that we should only have 1 sidebar in our blogs?! Well, I do on this site, but not on other sites. Its no wonder I don’t want to upgrade my other blogs!

When I first started blogging, PPS or Petaling Street, Malaysia’s blog aggregator where you can ping your new posts, was credible. You found well written articles and credible bloggers.

But now, every other post I see is about F**k or Sh*t or sex or just any manner of vulgarism. The worst thing is that the blog contents are sometimes really bad too. I’m not saying I write great articles but heck at least I can spell and I have a decent grasp on my grammer!

I’ve stopped pinging PPS. I realised it did not make a difference either way. My traffic is still there. So, why descend to the masses?!

I was contacted by a local company some time last month. They were asking me about whether I could do up some articles for them to promote an event they were running last month. I’ve waiting till now to write because I didn’t want to be accused of anything then So, here goes my rant!

Ok, so anyway, I wrote back to them and said thank you kindly for your interest and here are my advertising rates. I mean, here I was paying for my own bandwidth, generating income for you, the very least you could do was to pay me for my efforts and trouble!

But no, they came back to me and said, sorry, we aren’t looking for paid advertising.

I mean WTF?! Even if you were to have an article in the newspapers, you’d have to pay for it! What’s so hard about paying me a fraction of what you’d pay the newspapers for an ad?

So, I wrote back and said, ok, I’ll do you the article, send me your info and can I request an invite to your event. The answer? Our event is only for XXX people, are you in this line of work?

WTF?!

Evidently they’d never heard of the power of blogging. The Malaysian Government was changed overnight due to the power of blogs and these clueless advertisers are still scorning us bloggers.

WTF! I mean seriously. WTF?!

I ported over my site from Blogsome because I was told that blogsome is like Blogger. You don’t ever really own the content and your blog can be deleted at any time. So, I hopped over to Godaddy and secured my own domain and got my own hosting. At least this way, I know that my site is safe from unruly free blog hosts.

Also in time to come, I’m sure I can qualify for some of the paid programmes which will help to pay for my hosting! Clever wot?

And then, I had an “itchy backside” and changed the template for something which I felt was for the better. Oops!

I found that my adsense income had dropped. Not terribly drastically, but enough to make a difference. I’m just hoping that its only temporary. But we’ll have to see I guess. I only hope it doesn’t affect my monthly goals!

This appeared on Yahoo’s main page this morning. Super cheap domains at only $1.99 for the first year!! 

It makes me want to run out and sign up every domain name I can think of. After all, if its only $1.99 and I make nothing out of the site after 1 year I could just let it die. The following years cost $9.95 – not an expensive domain price, but not as cheap as $1.99!

That’s what everyone wants to know. So after much pressuring, I joined Facebook, the biggest social networking program thus far.

But did I like it? No. I felt like people were prying into my life, tracking who I knew what I did who my friends were. I did not like it. So I stopped all participation.

Recently, I was invited to join a group of my old school. I felt like a voyeur as I scrolled through pages of familiar names and faces. I am tempted to join up but it would mean opening myself up to the rest of the world. Letting them poke through my list of friends and wrestling with the social obligation to add them to your list of friends and to participate.

Honestly I cannot be bothered. And so I haven’t joined up. I’m curious about some of them, but I know all too well the horrors the internet can unleash and I’m not ready to be part of that yet.
