A holiday in the offing?

I overheard Mom and Dad talking about taking a trip to visit my uncles in the states if they have the time this year. Of course I perked up immediately. Who doesn’t want to visit the USA I ask you?

Uncle is in San Jose California so reading about Outer Banks rentals won’t help me any. It will help give me an idea of rental prices though. But then, since Uncle’s house is huge, I’m sure he can easily accomodate us all.

I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that this trip goes through!

Christmas down south

Singapore is awesome at Christmas! I am still here and will be till the New Year woohoo!! I took time out to go to Orchard Road and view the Christmas lights. I remember them as a kid and they used to be so bright and pretty but it seems more subdued this time. Might it be the recession?

That said, I saw a long long LONG queue in front of the Louis Vuitton store. A QUEUE! What’s wrong with these people? Its LV! Its LUXURY luggage! Not like the Swiss Army luggage I got at Taka at a discount.

I’m going out shopping again today. I’m told by my cousin that there are usually Boxing Day sales on in most department stores. I can’t wait to get more shopping done!

Ever since I signed up with some travel affiliate for my other blog, I’ve been getting emails for promotions for las vegas hotels. I found it slightly odd initially because I’d specified my location to be Asia.

That said, the emails are quite interesting because I’ve never been to Las Vegas and although I’ve been told about how grande their casinos can be, I just can’t imagine it. So, when I saw the pictures attached to the email, I was quite surprised at the grandeur.

Its just too bad that Las Vegas is so far away or I’d hop on a plane there in a heartbeat! I’m told that Macau’s casinos are pretty awesome too. Maybe that should be my next vacation destination.

Who needs a holiday?

Me! I got back from Bangkok recently, before the riots and protests started, thank God! I’d hated to have been holed up in my hotel room waiting to be airlifted out of the city if it got really ugly. But now, after looking at the various political situations, I think its time for a time out holiday again.

And this time, maybe its time to venture further afield to maybe Florida where my newly married friend is living. I did call her to ask if they were hit by Gustav, but she said they were fine so I’m glad. That said, I would love to visit her some day, if not soon, then in the near future. She’s asked me to live with her but since she’s going to have a baby soon, I don’t think that’s quite a good idea for me as well as for her!

I’d probably go with vacation rentals. I read that florida vacation rentals are quite easy to find online. Staying in a rental house or apartment would give me greater flexibility to do what I want, go where I want and in general, feel less obliged to people.

Someone in the office who has just returned told me that he saved money staying at orlando vacations rentals instead of in a hotel. With a family of 6 I can imagine so! He’d have needed 3 hotel rooms instead of just one apartment. Anyway, I’ll monitor the situation here and see what happens. Maybe it’ll be time to fly away soon!

ARGH! I’m dying to get to New York and guess what? My best friend is going there for nearly 3 weeks! *froths at mouth* I cannot believe this. Its only her second time there *whimper* and she was complaining because its such a long flight and she’s there for work etc etc… I don’t care if I’m there in New York for work man! I just want to get there! I need to get at the shopping! LOL… I wish some client would send me over for New York City travel but I guess its too much to ask. My clients are all tight fisted bastards. The most I can hope for is for a trip within ASEAN. Bummer! Oh well, look on the bright side. I get to get her to do my New York shopping! Woohoo!

Theres so much to do in Branson!

I’m so jealous of my work mate. She’s got a holiday lined up in July to go to the USA. Well, her brother is graduating so she’s going to attend the graduation ceremony with her parents. I did not ask where she was going but I’m so jealous because she’s going to an outlet mall! I’ve heard so much about outlet malls. They are like our local warehouse sales but those that go on for ever! I hear that Coach bags are considered cheap there. CHEAP! They cost over RM2000 here!

I wonder if she’s going to Branson. I didn’t quite ask where she was headed. I saw on a site that Branson has 3 outlet malls too nearby the town plus a theme park and a Ripley’s Believe it or not museum. There’s so much to do there it seems.

You know, I’m totally fascinated with Branson. Its like a holiday town with so much to do. They actually have live singers and entertainment. But I just checked one of the outlet stores called Branson Landing and they don’t have a Coach store. I told her to let me know if she was going to one. I want to get a Coach bag and I’m not prepared to pay the thousands I have to pay here!
